The Need

As supported self-management programmes were increasingly entering the oncology space, there was the need to prepare healthcare professionals with the skills needed to encourage self-management.

The Action

A protocol was developed for the delivery and evaluation of an Advanced Development Programme for healthcare professionals working within oncology. The focus was on teaching how to identify patient activation and the skills needed to leverage internal motivation for supporting self-management behaviours.

The Outcome

The protocol was provided to healthcare institutions working within oncology.

National Cancer Survivorship Project Manager

“After working with Nicola on supported self-management programmes for cancer survivors, we were keen to get her input into how we could train professionals in the new oncology landscape – one which placed emphasis on autonomy and self-management. As always, Nicola didn’t disappoint. Our programmes were a success, equipping professionals to navigate the rapid changes taking place in their practice.”
